The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday (July 12) that a homicide suspect was detained following an early morning killing at a Harvey company.
The victim and suspect were only identified as adult males, and the agency did not immediately provide their identities or ages.
According to the JPSO, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 5:40 a.m. at a business in the 2000 block of Woodmere Boulevard.
The first responding deputy “was confronted by the suspect,” who was armed with a gun, according to a JPSO statement.
“The deputy fired his service weapon at the suspect multiple times,” the JPSO reported. “The deputy’s gunfire did not strike the suspect, who was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.
“Deputies found the victim inside the establishment with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the spot.
This developing story will be updated when new information becomes available.
