A Leesburg woman and her son were taken into custody for violence after an argument over cutting the grass became physical.

An officer responded to a battery involving 54-year-old Sergette Trezy and her son, 31-year-old Steve Nobless Trezy, at an unnamed Leesburg residence around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Steve stated that he and Sergette had a verbal dispute over her request that he trim the grass. He had an attitude and was disrespectful, which infuriated her. She began flinging pots and pans, but he was able to avoid them, according to the complaint.

He then grabbed Stergette to hold her and defend himself. She lost her equilibrium, and they tumbled to the ground, with him still holding her. She bit and scratched him, but he let her go once she calmed down. According to the report, he got scratches on his right hand.

Sergette was extremely unhappy and crying as we spoke. She confirmed that they were bickering about Steve cutting the grass. However, she claimed that he began stroking her face with his finger and pushing her to the ground, according to the report.

While she was on the ground, he grabbed a cooking pot and threatened to strike her. She then jumped up off the ground and grabbed a frying pan to defend herself. According to the report, Steve retaliated by seizing her shirt and throat and throwing her back to the ground.

Sergette couldn’t breathe after Steve grabbed her by the throat. Once she was on the ground, he forced her face into it and stepped on her hands to pin her down, according to the report.

She had little scratches on the inside of her lower lip, bruising on her hands, and a scratch on the right side of her neck. The report also stated that the kitchen was in chaos, with cooking pots and pans on the floor.

Sergette was arrested on charges of simple violence (domestic) and put into the Lake County Jail. The Haitian native was released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on July 28.

Steve was arrested for violence by strangulation (domestic). He was released from jail after paying a $5,000 bond.
