Two Georgia residents were sentenced after a criminal investigation into illicit gambling activities in Flint.

James and Laura Stiles pleaded guilty to running a gambling house for profit.

Each was sentenced to one year probation earlier this week.

The Cellular Vault, a firm at 3301 Corunna Road, was initially inspected in 2022.

Following an executed search warrant, dozens of gambling-related computers were confiscated, and the business was closed.

“This case shows what happens when an illegal gambling operation tries to hide behind a new name and a new sign,” Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director Henry Williams said. “Our partnership with the Attorney General’s Office and the City of Flint made sure this location couldn’t simply reopen and continue operating outside the law.”
