Chicago man charged with attempted murder after road rage shooting along I-55

A Chicago man faces felony charges after opening fire on a motorist during a road rage incident on I-55 over the weekend.

According to troopers, 24-year-old Marcellus Crockrom has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

The charges stem from a shooting that reportedly occurred approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, on the ramp connecting I-55 southbound and I-94 northbound.

According to authorities, Crockrom allegedly opened fire on another driver following a road rage incident.

Troopers stated the victim’s vehicle was damaged during the shooting, but no injuries were recorded.

Troopers soon recognized Crockrom as a suspect and found his vehicle shortly after.

Troopers said a firearm was recovered during Crockrom’s arrest.

Crockrom remains in detention awaiting his first court appearance.
