A California Powerball player came close to winning the $544 million grand prize in the drawing on Monday, July 20.
Because no ticket matched all six numbers, the grand prize increases to an estimated $567 million for the next drawing on Wednesday.
According to the California Lottery, a ticket matching four numbers and the Powerball was purchased at Amplify, which is located at 1935 S. Del Mar Ave in San Gabriel.
The lucky ticket is worth $37,339.
The numbers chosen on Monday were 2, 9, 44, 53, and 59, with an 8 for the Powerball and a 2x Power Play multiplier.
Players in Colorado and Michigan each won $1 million after matching all five numbers.
Nearly 570,000 tickets won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000 across the country, with over 72,000 winning in California alone.
The identity of the person who purchased the winning ticket in San Gabriel has not been revealed.
It is unknown if the winner has claimed the reward money yet.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22.
Drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
To win the grand prize, players must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292,201,338.
