A 19-year-old suspect has been apprehended in connection with a fatal shooting in the east Las Vegas valley over the weekend.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Jayden Torres was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of open murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.
Torres was identified as a suspect in the homicide investigation near Hollywood Regional Park, located at East Park Access Road and S. Hollywood Boulevard, according to LVMPD.
According to police, someone reported finding an unresponsive man in the area around 5:18 a.m. on Saturday. Officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead on scene.
Homicide detectives discovered the man was with a group of people in the area when the shooting occurred, and the suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived.
Details about Torres’ alleged involvement in the fatal shooting were not immediately available. His initial court appearance is expected for Thursday morning.
According to court documents, Torres was arrested earlier this year on charges of robbery, burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery. He posted bond and was released with the terms of staying out of trouble and not possessing any firearms. A hearing for discussions was planned for September 9 in Las Vegas Justice Court.
