A man was sentenced to ten years in prison for stealing into Beaverton-area apartments and jumping into people’s beds while they were sleeping.
Christopher Lloyd Rydman pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree burglary, and private indecency charges in connection with the October 8, 2025, incidents.
According to court documents, Rydman broke into an unlocked Beaverton residence that belonged to a single mother and her children. He then entered the master bedroom and climbed into bed with the mother while she slept.
“When the victim woke up, the defendant was lying next to her and touching her body,” according to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
When Rydman left the apartment, the woman raced out of the room and videotaped him on her cell phone while her son dialled 911.
While police were investigating the initial incident, they received a second 9-1-1 call from a property a half-mile away, where a surveillance camera caught Rydman approaching the home and loitering near the front door.
Rydman is then accused of breaking into another unsecured residence and entering a bed where a woman and her partner were sleeping, “but this time he was naked from the waist down”, according to the district attorney’s office.
When the couple awoke, they were allegedly “shocked to see the pantsless defendant in their bed.”
Rydman was forced out of the house by his boyfriend, and officers in the neighbourhood discovered him on the street and arrested him.
Rydman was transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections on Tuesday after being sentenced to ten years in prison.
“The Washington County District Attorney’s Office commends the Beaverton Police Department for its work on this case, as well as the victims for the grace and courage they showed from the night of the incident through the court process,” the DA’s office said.
