Two people exchanged gunfire at a Scenic Drive rest area after an argument turned violent, according to a police document acquired by KTSM 9 News.
According to the affidavit, two groups of juveniles were there on Friday, May 29, when the incident occurred. Police claim a witness saw Cesar Galindo, also known as “Cash,” place two hands on a revolver and fire it at a group at the rest area.
He was detained on Thursday, July 23, for deadly conduct and discharge of a firearm, according to court documents. The 18-year-old has been in and out of jail multiple times this year on identical accusations. Police have also recognized Galindo based on a tattoo on his stomach that bears his moniker.
The police document also describes the aftermath of the exchange, which occurred where many El Paso residents gathered to admire the city skyline and views.
After discovering bullet casings and interviewing with witnesses to the altercation, officers tracked down a vehicle with many bullet holes. Police discovered bullet holes in the driver’s side rear door, as well as in the bonnet and trunk of a Nissan Altima.
Investigators, working with the El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit, found a witness who could identify “Cash.” The cops followed the witness as he entered a vehicle with another participant in the brawl.
The witness recognized “Cash” and informed police that two people fired shots at each other the night of the altercation.
The witness “then advised that the defendant stated, ‘He shot at that n***** car.” “The witness was shown a photo of the defendant and was able to positively identify him as the shooter,” the document stated.
