A sheriff’s deputy was apprehended after an internal audit discovered he had abused the agency’s Flock camera system, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott stated Wednesday.
Russell Kenton II, 35, was arrested and charged with misconduct in office on Wednesday after detectives determined he improperly used the system to investigate material unrelated to law enforcement, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The department stated that the misuse was detected during a routine audit of user activity on the Flock License plate reader system conducted by its Professional Standards Division on Friday.
Kenton was fired on Wednesday and transferred to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
