A Guilderland police said a woman was taken into custody after officers said she tried to use a fake ID to take money from another person’s bank credit line.
Officers were dispatched to NBT Bank at 5 New Karner Road on Wednesday, July 29, at around 3:04 p.m. According to the Guilderland Police Department, bank employees reported that a lady was attempting to impersonate another individual in order to obtain funds from that person’s home equity line of credit account.
Police claimed they encountered Anna Hardee, 47, of New York City, at the scene and discovered she possessed a fake New York State driver’s licence with the victim’s identification. Police said Hardee was attempting to withdraw $38,000 from the victim’s account.
Police said Hardee was wanted by various law enforcement agencies and was a fugitive from court in Rhode Island.
She was charged with attempted grand larceny in the third degree, identity theft in the first degree, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, criminal impersonation in the second degree, and fleeing justice.
According to police, Hardee was arraigned and remanded to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office pending extradition to Rhode Island.
