The Lynchburg Police Department said Saturday that a man from Washington, D.C., has been apprehended in connection with a May shooting in the Hill City.
On Friday, July 31, LPD arrested 21-year-old Jovaun Adrian Lee in connection with the May 20 shooting on Memorial Avenue, which injured one person.
On that day, officers from the LPD arrived to the 2500 block of Memorial Avenue at 1 a.m. after receiving 911 reports reporting shots fired in a gambling facility.
A man was discovered with gunshot wounds and sent to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to LPD, investigators discovered that the suspect, identified as Lee on the same day the crime happened, attempted to rob the victim and got into a fight before the shooting.
According to LPD, Lee has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated malicious wounding, using a handgun to commit a felony, negligent handling of a firearm, willfully firing a firearm in a public place, and wearing a mask/hood to disguise identify.
