Armed juveniles were apprehended and charged following a mall disturbance in Central Florida.

The two teenagers were arrested following a disturbance involving armed criminals at Tampa’s Brandon Mall earlier this summer.

When Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the perpetrators, they escaped on foot throughout a local store and surrounding neighborhood. According to law authorities, when deputies pursued them, the teens threw away a backpack containing a loaded AR-15-style firearm and then a handgun.

Deputies apprehended Dae Shaun Rah Kel Williams, 16, and Dontavias Tavares Stewart Jr., 15, without incident. The two firearms were recovered, and no one was wounded.

Deputies discovered that the accused had intimidated a victim and claimed they were armed, causing her to fear for her safety.

“Armed juveniles threatening the public will face serious consequences,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “These two people are currently facing major felony charges. We will not accept violent violence in our community, no matter the offender’s age. This arrest indicates that criminal behavior, particularly with guns, will result in accountability.”

According to local law enforcement, 16-year-old Dae Shaun Rah Kel Williams was charged with child probation violation, resisting an officer without violence, minor in possession of a firearm, disrupting a school function or lawful assembly, tampering with physical evidence, and possessing a firearm while committing a felony.

According to HCSO, 15-year-old Dontavias Tavares Stewart Jr. was charged with resisting an officer without violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, minor in possession of a firearm, disrupting a school function or lawful assembly, tampering with physical evidence, and possessing a firearm while committing a felony.
