A 73-year-old Springfield woman died Monday, Aug. 24, after being hospitalized following an Aug. 6 hit-and-run collision that also killed her husband.
Pamela Fultz and Randall Fultz, 73, were walking on Sixth Street near the G Street intersection when they were struck just before 9 p.m. by a white SUV, according to Springfield police.
The vehicle reportedly continued northbound, made a U-turn after striking a vehicle, then again collided with the couple after doubling back.
Edgar Solorio Lopez, jailed in connection with a fatal stabbing the next day, remains a suspect in the Aug. 6 hit-and-run, Springfield police said Monday.
Springfield Deputy Chief George Crolly confirmed the death of Pamela Fultz, also announced on the Facebook page of City of Destiny Church.
“This does not change the status of the investigation, but it does mean that SPD will be working with the District Attorney’s office on filing appropriate criminal charges. I expect that to happen in the near future,” Crolly said in an email.
