Two women face criminal charges after a shooting on Thursday along County Road 422 in Lake Panasoffkee, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a woman and her boyfriend were driving down County Road 422 when they came across another woman and her husband walking on the road. The driver pulled over and got out of the car, and an argument turned into a violent fight involving all four people.

After the incident was resolved, the driver and her boyfriend returned to their vehicle and began to leave the area. According to investigators, one of the women then shot a single round from a.45-caliber handgun into the passenger side of the vehicle.

The bullet struck the passenger-side door, causing damage and spilling plastic shards into the vehicle’s interior.

According to deputies, the passenger suffered only minor injuries.
