Motorcyclist killed after being thrown from Interstate 35 overpass identified

The motorcyclist killed after being thrown from an Interstate 35 overpass near downtown has been identified.

Police recognized the rider as 39-year-old Jeremy Akers.

The crash  occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday on southbound I-35 near the Interstate 10 West intersection, also known as the Finesilver Curve.

According to police, Akers was traveling at high speeds when he failed to negotiate the curve leading to I-10 West and collided with a retaining wall.

The accident pushed Akers off the motorcycle and over the wall. He fell to the ground and died there.
