A 46-year-old Belleview woman who admitted to taking antidepressants was apprehended following a rear-end collision on US 301.
Nicole Marie Schiller was driving a blue Subaru northbound on U.S. 301 at Southeast 147th Place in Summerfield around 5:40 p.m. on September 9 when she failed to stop for a white Ford that was stopping for traffic. Her vehicle impacted with the Ford’s rear, according to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest record.
The trooper investigating the crash saw Schiller’s blurry, watery eyes, droopy eyelids, and slurred speech. She also has difficulty walking in a straight path. The driver of the Ford also informed the trooper that Schiller’s comments were difficult to understand.
Schiller told the officer she was heading home after a doctor’s appointment and admitting to “possibly speeding.” She stated she had taken the antidepressants Abilify and Effexor that morning, but that they had no effect on her ability to drive.
Schiller was arrested after failing to perform well in field sobriety tests. She gave breath samples with 0.00 blood alcohol concentration and agreed to produce a urine sample.
She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence resulting in property damage and cited for careless driving. She was booked into Marion County Jail and released after posting a $2,000 bond.
