2 men injured in downtown Portland shooting; 4 arrested

Two men suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injured after a shooting in downtown Portland early Saturday, police said.

Around 12:20 a.m., officers went to a report of a disturbance near Southwest 3rd Avenue and West Burnside Street. While en route, officers heard gunfire and found evidence of a shooting in the area, but they did not locate any victims or suspects.

Police later discovered a potential suspect vehicle departing downtown on Interstate 84. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver escaped at great speed. They did not pursue the vehicle; instead, Portland Police’s Air Support Unit followed it until its occupants came to a halt at Northeast 58th Avenue and Northeast Flanders Street and fled into the neighborhood.

Officers from several precincts, as well as the K9 team, encircled the area and detained four guys while the inquiry continued.

Police discovered that two adult men came to a local hospital in a private vehicle with gunshot wounds. Both received treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team is investigating. Anyone with information or video relating to the shooting can contact [email protected], attention ECST, and include case number 26-288413.
