Indiana And Kentucky Fugitive Taken Into Custody In Florida While Hiding Under Shed With Hidden Handcuff Key

A wanted felon on the run from Kentucky and Indiana was apprehended Thursday evening after deputies discovered him hiding beneath a shed overhang near Dover, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and the agency’s aviation section apprehended 42-year-old Jonathan Terry at 6:37 p.m. on October 1 in the 15000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Terry possessed current warrants in both states. Authorities in Kentucky said he was wanted for a probation violation related to a controlled substance offense. Indiana authorities had been seeking for him for four years on a fugitive warrant after he failed to appear in court on a methamphetamine possession allegation.

Terry was identified and traced from the air by the aviation crew while ground deputies moved in. As deputies approached, Terry reached under his clothing and tossed a pair of brass knuckles beneath a neighboring vehicle, prompting his arrest.

During the search, deputies discovered a handcuff key taped inside Terry’s underwear.

“This convicted felon, wanted in two states, underestimated the skill and determination of teamHCSO,” Sheriff Chad Chronister stated. “He now faces new charges here and must answer for his crimes in Indiana and Kentucky.”

Terry now faces local charges in Florida for carrying a hidden handgun while a felon and possessing a concealed handcuff key, in addition to the out-of-state warrants. The sheriff’s office stated that the inquiry is underway.
