Pasco County Mom Abandons 3 Kids in Dark, Filthy Home with Only $3 to Share, Deputies Report

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – In a shocking display of neglect, a 35‑year‑old mother abandoned her three children in a filthy, dark apartment for an entire week, handing them just three dollars to cover groceries.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office reports that Heather Wizbicki left her 14‑, 13‑, and 9‑year‑old children on September 21. The apartment had been without electricity for days, the water was shut off, and the pantry was empty. She didn’t even leave a phone for them to call for help.

She returned briefly on September 24, not to see if her kids were hungry but, according to deputies, to “collect clothes for herself.” Before hurrying out again, she handed each child a single dollar,a total of three dollars,to address their hunger.

“There were multiple days where the children were deprived of food and went hungry,” investigators noted in the arrest affidavit.

A neighbor discovered the situation on September 28, called 911, and finally put an end to the week‑long neglect.

When deputies entered the home, they described the conditions as anything but livable.

“The residence had feces on the floor, rotten food stored in multiple bags, trash throughout the rooms, no running water, and had a foul smell,” the affidavit detailed. The stench was so intense the children could barely breathe, even with every window wide open. Adding to the cruelty, Wizbicki also left a cat locked inside without food or water.

Deputies didn’t need to search far for the mother; she had already checked herself into the local jail after a September 24 traffic stop in Zephyrhills for illegal window tint, during which a police dog detected fentanyl in her vehicle.

Wizbicki now sits in Pasco County Jail without bond, facing three child‑neglect charges and an animal‑cruelty count. She is prohibited from contacting her children,an order that, oddly enough, is the only parenting rule she appears to be following.
