Pedestrian dies after SUV driven by Zephyrhills man veers off US‑301 in Pasco County

Early Friday morning, a pedestrian lost his life after an SUV collided with him on US‑301, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred at about 1:55 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2026. Troopers said a 20‑year‑old driver from Zephyrhills was heading south in a Honda SUV when the vehicle left the pavement near Shamrock Place and slid onto the grass shoulder.

While on the shoulder, the pedestrian was struck by the SUV and suffered fatal injuries, dying at the scene.

Police have not disclosed the victim’s name, and his identity remains unknown. No other injuries were reported, and investigators have not indicated whether charges will follow.
