Golf Cart Crash on Overpass and Watergrass in Wesley Chapel Injures Two Teens Seriously

Four teenagers were ejected from a golf cart Friday night after it struck a sedan on Overpass Road, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred at about 8:20 p.m. on October 9, right at the Overpass Road and Watergrass Parkway intersection.

State troopers said a 14‑year‑old girl from Wesley Chapel was driving an Ezgo golf cart eastbound in the left‑turn lane, while a 38‑year‑old Wesley Chapel man was heading west in a Nissan Maxima toward the same intersection.

Investigators determined the teen attempted to turn left onto northbound Watergrass Parkway under a flashing yellow arrow, sending the cart directly into the path of the oncoming Nissan and causing a crash that tossed all four occupants from the vehicle.

Both the 14‑year‑old driver and her 15‑year‑old female passenger from Odessa sustained serious injuries and were transported to local medical facilities for treatment.

The two other passengers, both 13‑year‑old boys from Wesley Chapel, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

The Nissan driver was not reported to have been injured.
