In Polk County, Florida, a 24‑year‑old woman from Lake Wales, who had been released on bond after a late‑summer arrest, found herself back behind bars this week after deputies say an unexpected visit sparked a confrontation.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Amber Nicole Huffman was taken into custody on Saturday, Oct. 10, after an incident that started at a nearby home.
Deputies responded to the Lake Wales residence after a disturbance report. The victim told investigators that Huffman showed up unannounced, shouted, threatened, and fled the scene before officers arrived.
During the investigation, dispatchers received a separate 911 call from Huffman, who asked to speak directly with deputies on Tillman Avenue.
When deputies met Huffman at the location, they told her she was under arrest. She attempted to walk away, prompting officers to seize her. A struggle ensued, and Huffman allegedly struck one deputy deliberately with her elbow.
Officers secured Huffman, took her to the Sheriff’s Processing Center, and booked her on four counts: battery on a law‑enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, resisting an officer without violence, and assault.
Court records reveal that Huffman was out on bond during the Saturday incident. The Lake Wales Police Department had initially arrested her in August, accusing her of battery on a law‑enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
