U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody and Governor Ron DeSantis crisscrossed Northwest Florida on Friday and over the weekend, checking storm damage and overseeing the early cleanup after Hurricane Isaias.
“Isaias was a major hurricane, and it will take time to rebuild what was destroyed,” Moody said. “Floridians are resilient, and I am committed to working alongside Governor DeSantis to make sure communities that suffered damage have the resources needed to recover. Every level of government was prepared for Isaias, and now every level of government is fully engaged in supporting recovery.”
Their itinerary featured a quick bite at a Waffle House in Milton, followed by an operational briefing at an active road‑repair site.
Earlier that Friday, the two officials met in Pensacola for a pre‑landfall emergency briefing, where Moody urged residents in the storm’s path to finish safety preparations, secure their property, and obey local evacuation orders.
Federal aid is already flowing into the state after President Donald Trump signed the emergency declaration DeSantis requested. Moody had mailed a supporting letter to the administration before landfall to speed up disaster relief.
Moody’s office now works hand‑in‑hand with FEMA to monitor aid distribution and help residents navigate federal relief programs.
