An Indianapolis man has received his sentence after boarding a Greenwood school bus with his partner and battering several children last year.
The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office reported that 28-year-old Donquarious Ridley was sentenced to two years in jail followed by two years on probation. Ridley’s sentence comes after he pled guilty to felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and violence on a person under the age of 14.
Ridley was also ordered to attend anger management and substance abuse classes as part of his sentence.
The initial fight happened on October 31, 2025, when Ridley and Raven Barner boarded a school bus near Dover Drive and Scarborough Lane without permission and began confronting several of the students on board.
Police quickly discovered that the pair began yelling at the children because they thought their kid was being bullied. As part of their inquiry, investigators examined security footage that appeared to show Ridley and Barner entering the bus, with Barner punching two youngsters after warning a boy she would “beat his a**.”
According to police, Ridley threw one of the youngsters to the ground, allowing his son to continue punching him. Ridley was reportedly seen punching two children and instructing his kid to strike another. A few minutes later, the couple was arrested during a traffic stop.
Barner pled guilty in June to two counts of violence on a person under the age of 14 and resisting arrest. She received a one-year imprisonment, followed by one year on probation.
“We are pleased that Judge Roesener sent a strong message today to this defendant and anyone else who might consider behaving in this manner,” said Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner. “You don’t hop on a school bus and strike young children. Parents are responsible for protecting their children and teaching them what is right and wrong. Ridley did the complete opposite in this situation.”
