A Texas man is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell methamphetamine after officers discovered more than 44 pounds of the drug in a suitcase, according to an affidavit.
Juan Daniel Leal Nunez was apprehended on Tuesday near Airways Boulevard and East Brooks Road after what agents described as a consensual interaction.
According to the affidavit, Leal Nunez offered verbal agreement to inspect a bag and luggage he was carrying. Inside were two vacuum-sealed methamphetamine packets weighing more than 44 pounds.
Investigators believe the meth was being trafficked from Houston to Memphis. They believe that it is worth roughly $250,000 wholesale, with a street value of around $500,000.
The drugs were turned up to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
