Fugitive West Virginia Prisoner Sought For Attempted Murder Caught

An 18-year-old inmate who escaped custody and remained a fugitive for nearly a month has been apprehended, authorities have confirmed.

Xander Ball was located and taken into custody at a residence near Sable Circle in Reynoldsville, according to an official press release issued by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Ball fled a detention center in Wheeling, West Virginia, on October 10. Law enforcement agencies had conducted an extensive search across the Morgantown and Clarksburg areas, with the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force offering a $3,500 reward for any information leading to his arrest.

Ball faces attempted murder charges in connection with a July shooting in Star City, West Virginia, an incident that left one individual critically injured.

The arrest brings to a close a coordinated, multi-agency operation carried out by the U.S. Marshals Service, the West Virginia State Police, and local law enforcement authorities.
