A man died from a shooting late Friday night in downtown Reno, prompting police to seek public assistance as detectives investigate the circumstances leading to the incident.
The Reno Police Department dispatched officers following reports of gunfire around 8:30 p.m. on April 24, 2026, in the 200 block of East 4th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound.
Officers worked alongside Reno Fire Department personnel and REMSA to save the man’s life, but he died at the scene, according to police.
Detectives continue investigating what happened before the shooting. Authorities described the incident as isolated, stating no ongoing threat exists to the public.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim once they notify the appropriate parties.
