A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook an area roughly 250 miles northwest of Las Vegas on Monday night, with no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage.
The quake struck at 7:39 p.m., about 50 miles northeast of Tonopah, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It originated at a depth of four miles.
Within 15 minutes of the initial tremor, aftershocks measuring 3.1 and 3.4 were recorded in the same area. The region, located north of Route 6 and bordering the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, has experienced a notable swarm of smaller quakes over the past two months, according to the Nevada Seismological Lab.
