A huge two-month law enforcement investigation across the Greater Baton Rouge area resulted in the arrest of 60 registered sex offenders for allegedly using the internet illegally and violating state registry regulations.

On Monday, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill unveiled the results of a multi-agency operation known as “Operation Restricted Domain.” The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation led the operation, which employed secure law enforcement databases to seek down criminals who violated state registration rules and engaged in heinous online activities.

“Operation Restricted Domain was a huge success, and it sends a clear message: there are no safe havens in Louisiana for predators who target children. “We will find you, arrest you, and bring you to justice,” Murrill declared.

The sweep reflects a tremendous expansion of governmental resources. Since Murrill assumed office in January 2024, Louisiana’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has grown from eight partner agencies to more than 80 across the state.

The growth coincides with a significant increase of digital hazard signs. From January to May 10, this year alone, the state received approximately 27,000 cyber tips. To put it into context, authorities received slightly more than 31,000 tips in the entire year of 2025. So far this year, the ICAC Task Force and Cyber Crime Unit have made 292 arrests, identified 36 child victims, and successfully rescued 32 children from ongoing abuse.

While law enforcement has increased its efforts, Murrill underlined that the police cannot fight this war alone, and urged parents to increase their monitoring of their children’s online activity.

“This is not the conclusion — it is just the beginning of our ongoing fight for a safer Louisiana for all of our children,” Murrill said.

The operation depended on a vast network of local and federal partners, including sheriff’s departments in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Feliciana, and West Baton Rouge parishes. Louisiana State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the state Department of Public Safety and Corrections’ Division of Probation and Parole also provided assistance.

District Attorneys Hillar Moore, Tony Clayton, Scott Perrilloux, Ricky Babin, and Sam D’Aquilla’s offices are expected to handle the majority of the impending prosecutions. Authorities stated that investigations are still ongoing, and additional charges may be made soon.

Individuals arrested during the sweep face a variety of crimes, the majority of which are related to the illegal use of social networking websites and failure to register as sex offenders. A couple of the individuals face much more serious charges, including obscene content and animal abuse.
