A drug investigation in Nubian Square ended with a suspected cocaine dealer handcuffed Tuesday evening, according to Boston police, who claimed they spotted an apparent narcotics transaction on a busy Roxbury street.

Members of the Boston Police Department’s Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team carried out the operation at 6 p.m. near 2359 Washington St. as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug activity and quality-of-life complaints in the neighborhood.

During surveillance activities, investigators saw an apparent narcotics transaction between the suspect and another individual.

Police said the second person engaged in the incident was summoned to Roxbury District Court on a Class B narcotics possession allegation.

Officers then approached the suspect at Nubian Square Bus Station and arrested him without incident.

The culprit was identified as 33-year-old Hyde Park resident Kareem Lamont Woods.

During the arrest procedure, investigators claimed they discovered 67 little plastic bags containing roughly 34 grams of a material suspected to be crack cocaine, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

Woods is scheduled to appear in Roxbury District Court on accusations of trafficking cocaine and distribution of Class B substances as a subsequent offense.

The arrest was made as part of the department’s Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team’s ongoing enforcement activities, which focus on crime prevention and community safety measures in certain Boston neighborhoods.
