On Monday, July 13, 2026, Leominster Police Officers Jonathan Ramos and Garrett Hardy were summoned to the Wendy’s Restaurant on North Main Street after receiving a report of an assault and battery.

According to Officer Ramos, the caller reported three men involved, one of them was shirtless and threatened another with a knife.

“Upon arrival, there were two male parties located in the area of the Rail Trail at the intersection of Erdman Way,” Officer Ramos reported. “These two individuals were eventually identified as Mr. Christopher Potter (shirtless) and Mr. Angel Pomales. Both persons were held and pat-frisked because I believed they were armed (a knife was reported) and dangerous (an attack had occurred). “There was a knife on Angel but not on Christopher.”

Officer Ramos said he spoke with Angel, who stated that he was there to care for his wife, Catalina.

“Angel stated she was the one who caused this and that Chris was here to help him,” Ramos added. “Angel also stated that Dylan, whom I know to be Dylan Richard based on previous dealings with him as a Leominster police officer, contacted him via messenger and stated that he was coming after Angel. Angel clarified that he assumed Dylan was coming over to hang out with Angel and meet at Wendy’s.

According to police, Dylan Richard, 22, is homeless in Leominster, Massachusetts.

“Once at the Wendy’s, Angel stated that he was jumped by two people, Dylan and the driver,” Ramos added. “Angel stated that it was a 2015 Honda Civic, color blue.”

Officer Ramos stated that Angel alleged that Richard sucker struck him outside Wendy’s and then slashed him.

“I inquired as to how Angel was cut, and he specified a machete,” Officer Ramos stated. “Angel did have a fresh injury to one of his hands.”

Officer Hardy stated he saw Christopher and Angel heading outbound on the rail line as he was responding to the scene. He spoke with Angel, who told him that after the physical confrontation, he attempted to reach inside the Honda to grab Dylan.

“Angel stated that when his hand entered the vehicle, Dylan had his machete in his hand,” Officer Hardy stated.

Angel informed Officer Hardy that the machete was black with a crimson bandana wrapped around the handle.

“Angel stated that Dylan swung it at him and it struck his upper hand,” Officer Hardy explained. “Angel reported that after being struck with the machete, he went inside Wendy’s and asked them to contact 911. I saw a cut mark on Angel’s hand that was consistent with being slashed by a machete.

Officer Ramos requested aid from the Leominster Fire Department when Angel reported being cut with a machete, and police sealed off the scene at Wendy’s to hunt for evidence.

Officer Ramos then spoke to Christopher, who identified Angel as his brother.

“Christopher reported Dylan and his buddy Andrew came out of nowhere while they were in the patio area and began jumping Angel,” Ramos said. “Christopher did not see Dylan’s machete tonight but has seen it in the past.”

Officer Ramos stated that Officer Hardy told him that Angel’s fiancé had cheated on him with Dylan.

“Angel declined medical attention for his hand, but was able to show me a picture of Dylan, who I was able to positively identify as Dylan Richard,” Officer Ramos stated. “I finished speaking with the parties there and drove to the Wendy’s.”

When Officer Ramos arrived at Wendy’s, he discovered numerous drips of blood outside one of the restaurant’s front doors.

“Wendy’s exterior cameras were not working; therefore, I was unable to obtain footage,” Officer Ramos stated. “I drove to Moore Street to find Dylan and Andrew. Please keep in mind that Dylan and Andrew’s whereabouts were unknown for around 20 to 30 minutes, giving them enough time to hide the machete and synchronize their versions of events.”

Police then went to Moore Street to make contact with Dylan and Andrew.

“Gary [last name redacted], who resides at [# redacted] North Main Street, was able to call his son, Andrew [last name redacted], who returned to the residence without incident,” Officer Ramos reported. “I requested Gary for permission to examine his motor vehicle MA [# redacted] upon its return, which he granted. Given the conditions, Andrew and Dylan were pat-frisked and arrested the moment they arrived on Moore Street. No weapons were found on either party, and the involved weapon was not discovered.”

Officer Ramos said Andrew informed him that Dylan had stated that a stranger was attempting to lure him to the trailhead and that he felt unsafe.

“Andrew came outside, and Dylan explained to him that the tent he was utilizing was all slashed up, which was owned by Gary,” Ramos added. “Andrew claimed that they were driving past Wendy’s and approached Angel about the tent. Andrew later said that an incident occurred between himself and Angel.

Officer Ramos stated that Andrew reported Dylan grabbing Angel, but he did not witness anyone throwing punches or displaying weapons.

“I also spoke with Dylan after he was read his Miranda warnings and waived them,” Officer Ramos stated. “Dylan explained that Angel had a knife and noticed him reaching. Andrew approached to confront him, and Angel (Chino) backed off and reached for his waistband.

Dylan told Officer Ramos that Andrew threw the first blow to defend him, and he concluded the confrontation was not worth pursuing after Angel entered Wendy’s.

“Dylan affirmed he never had a machete and did not see any weapons,” Officer Ramos stated. “In light of the facts and circumstance, I determined Dylan was in violation he was of MGL 265/15A(B) Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.”

Officer Ramos arrested Dylan and took him to the Leominster Police Department for booking without incident.
