Eugene woman charged with DUII after allegedly speeding, swerving and refusing to leave vehicle, blood alcohol level recorded at .25%

A 33-year-old Eugene woman found herself in handcuffs early Thursday morning, October 8th, after an officer watched her speed and swerve dangerously along Coburg Road.

Around 1:04 a.m., an officer spotted a Subaru weaving erratically through traffic before it slammed into a raised median near Oakway, blowing out both tires on the driver’s side. The officer immediately pulled the vehicle over in a nearby parking lot.

The driver, Liesel Kristine Sanders, 33, of Eugene, raised immediate red flags , slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol told the story before she even said a word. Despite the obvious signs, Sanders flatly denied drinking and repeatedly refused to step out of the vehicle.

Officers ultimately had no choice but to physically remove her from the car, and she allegedly put up a fight in the process. Police arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving, and she was booked into the Lane County Jail.

The numbers told a sobering story , Sanders blew a .25% blood alcohol content, which sits more than three times above Oregon’s legal limit of .08%. She eventually came clean, admitting she had knocked back several alcoholic drinks at a nearby bar before climbing behind the wheel.
