A 29-year-old woman is facing many charges after biting another lady’s finger and hitting an elderly woman with a wooden plant stand during a fight.
According to court filings, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 6600 block of East 45th Street on Thursday after receiving complaints of a disturbance.
When authorities arrived, they found two women outside the house. They discovered that one woman had an injury to her left finger and was bleeding heavily, while the other had a “very large and highly raised golf ball sized knot on the middle of her forehead.”
When cops entered the house, they saw a man holding down a lady named Charda Eldridge. Both were reportedly coated in blood. Police also found shattered glass, liquids, and blood on the floor, as well as knocked-over plants, broken vases, and blood stains on the walls.
According to court filings, Eldridge allegedly argued with one of the women over paying rent on Thursday.
She apparently went “crazy” and bit the victim so severely that flesh was hanging from her finger. When another woman approached to assist the injured, Eldridge threw a wooden flowerpot stand at her face, hitting her.
Court filings characterize the second woman as elderly and weak.
That’s when the man arrived and seized Eldridge, wrapping his arms around her to keep her from injuring anyone else.
Eldridge retaliated by stabbing the man with a “clear crystal goblet stem” that had broken while she flung the flowerpot at the woman.
When officers arrived, the man’s left ear was full of blood and actively gushing. As he chatted with officers, a big pool of blood started to flow down his face from a wound on the right side of his skull. He also sustained injuries to his left shoulder and right index finger.
The individual was sent to a local hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
According to court filings, Eldridge was diagnosed with personality disorder, schizophrenia, and PTSD. Court filings revealed that she had not taken her medicine for over a year.
She faces the following preliminary charges:
- Aggravated Battery, a level 3 Felony
- Two counts of Battery resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, a level 6 Felony
- Two counts of Intimidation, a level 6 Felony
- Online court records indicate that Eldridge is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
