Two men were sentenced to federal prison for conspiracy to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl.
Des Moines police began investigating Corser Scott Paine, 29, of Des Moines, and Eric Tyrone White, 31, of Detroit, after a Des Moines man died of an overdose in April 2025. Five days after Paine died from an overdose, police examined his flat.
Police discovered hundreds of grams of fentanyl powder combined with Xylazine (a veterinary sedative), BTMPS (an industrial chemical), and methamphetamine. They also discovered fentanyl test strips, scales, baggies, gloves, and a mixer used to combine the medications.
Police seized and searched at least nine telephones. The phones connected Paine to the overdose victim, revealing that White was Paine’s heroin source.
On July 7, Paine was sentenced to 126 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. On September 3, White was sentenced to 195 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
There is no parole in the federal system. The Des Moines Police Department’s Vise and Narcotics Control Unit looked into the case.
