A pickup truck caught fire late Tuesday night after its driver allegedly tried to hit several people working near Pyramid Way and Prater Way.
Sparks Police Department officers responded to the area around 11:58 p.m. on Sept. 22 after receiving a report of a vehicle fire. When officers arrived, they found the pickup completely engulfed in flames.
During the investigation, officers learned that the driver had allegedly tried to hit several people working in the area before the truck caught fire. Officers said the truck also struck several traffic cones during the incident.
Officers later identified the driver as Charles Trester. Investigators learned that Trester walked away from the scene after the pickup caught fire.
Officers later located Trester near Rock Boulevard and Prater Way and took him into custody without incident.
Trester was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on 10 felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, along with misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
