A 31-year-old Marysville man wanted in connection with various criminal investigations was detained this week in Yuba City after ramming an unmarked law enforcement vehicle and slamming into a convenience store, according to authorities.
Allen Houck was wanted in connection with various investigations into felony fleeing, burglary, stolen firearms, and other charges, according to Yuba and Sutter County law enforcement officials. He also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for alleged post-release community supervision violations.
Investigators claimed Houck had been linked to many incidents since July.
According to officials, on July 27, Yuba City police discovered and pursued a car they believed Houck was driving. The driver reached the Yuba City Boat Docks and abandoned the vehicle. Police say the man escaped into the river bottoms in an all-terrain vehicle.
Police officers found a stolen handgun in the abandoned vehicle.
Houck was also named as a suspect in an Oct. 3 burglary in Yuba City that resulted in the theft of a gun safe holding multiple firearms.
Authorities claimed he was involved in subsequent vehicle pursuits involving Yuba City police and Sutter County sheriff’s deputies on October 11 and 17.
Houck allegedly drove above 100 mph during the pursuit on October 17 before colliding near the Nicolaus Bridge. The impact of the collision caused the automobile to catch fire. According to investigators, Houck retreated into a neighboring orchard.
On Wednesday, investigators discovered Houck at Mike’s Mini Mart at Franklin Road and South Walton Road in Yuba City.
While detectives were attempting to apprehend him, Houck allegedly hit an unmarked law enforcement vehicle several times before slamming into the mini shop. Houck was eventually arrested and found to be in possession of 28 grams of methamphetamine, according to officials.
Houck was booked into the Sutter County Jail on many charges stemming from the alleged acts, according to officials.
