A former Phoenix high school teacher was sentenced to several years in prison on Wednesday after an inquiry into sexual assault claims.
Eric C. Chapman, 44, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a lifetime probation term after entering a plea agreement in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Chapman was a teacher at Cortez High School before being arrested in April 2025 for allegedly abusing and exploiting minors.
The former instructor was charged with multiple felony counts of sexual misconduct with a juvenile and sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to court records from the time of his arrest, Chapman allegedly admitted to obtaining and archiving hundreds of images and videos of youngsters being sexually exploited.
Following Chapman’s arrest, the Glendale Union High School District notified parents that one of its teachers had been “relieved of all duties.”
