Police: Woman Arrested After Breaking Into Neighbor’s Apartment With Child’s Help

A woman broke into a neighbor’s Miami apartment and removed furniture and other belongings with help from one of her children while the residents were at work, police said.

Nicole Bottiglieri Vega, 42, was seen forcing her way through the apartment’s rear door on Oct. 29, according to an arrest complaint.

The victim and his wife arrived home at 3 p.m. to find their apartment had been burglarized.

Several possessions had been relocated to a rear common space facing the street and parking lot.

When the victim got home, he saw Bottiglieri Vega in the shared area behind the flats, but he had no idea she was engaged in the burglary, police said.

According to the report, the building manager checked surveillance footage that showed Bottiglieri Vega leaving her apartment with her two children and approaching the victim’s unit’s rear entrance.

Police said the video showed her pushing open the rear entrance and dragging furniture and other items outdoors. According to authorities, one of her children helped take goods from the flat.

According to authorities, the door, lock, and furniture inside the apartment were all destroyed.

According to the complaint, the building manager recognized Bottiglieri Vega as a renter who had moved into the complex two weeks before.

Officers attempted to contact her after she returned to her apartment with the children, but she did not react to knocks at the door or rear window, police said.

Concerns about the children’s well-being prompted the Florida Department of Children and Families to become involved. An investigator arrived that evening, but was unable to reach her.

Officers returned about 4 p.m. on October 30 to help DCF personnel. Police claimed they entered the flat after hearing screams and seeing blood near the door. They discovered the woman in her bedroom.

She disregarded officers’ commands and pulled away as they attempted to arrest her, according to the report. Officers took her into custody and escorted her to the department’s North Station.

Bottiglieri Vega wiggled out of her handcuffs and approached the jail door before an officer re-handcuffed her, authorities claimed.

She was later taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
