Two teenagers were injured in a crash involving a dirt bike and a car in the Bethel area of Eugene on Sunday morning, according to the Eugene Police Department.

Police said officers responded around 11:10 a.m. on March 8 to a collision at the intersection of Barger Drive and East Irwin Way involving a dirt bike ridden by two 13-year-old boys and a Subaru WRX driven by a 29-year-old man.

Emergency crews from Eugene Springfield Fire treated the teens at the scene. Both boys were wearing helmets and were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators determined the crash occurred when the Subaru driver was turning into a parking lot as the dirt bike was traveling eastbound in the westbound bike lane at a high speed. The dirt bike struck the vehicle, causing significant damage to the car.

Police said the driver of the Subaru did not have a valid driver’s license and was cited for driving without privileges. The crash remains under investigation.
