Police in Eugene, Oregon responded to two separate incidents involving armed suspects on the night of March 11, according to the Eugene Police Department.
First incident: armed and intoxicated suspect arrested
Officers were first called around 10:53 p.m. to the 3600 block of Westward Ho Avenue after reports that a man was carrying a handgun while intoxicated. Authorities identified the suspect as Desean Lecurtis Lemond Oroy, 25.
Police said Oroy fled the area in a Chevrolet Malibu, but officers later located and stopped the vehicle. During the encounter, he reportedly became aggressive before being taken into custody.
He now faces charges including menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII).
Second incident: knife suspect detained after pursuit
Earlier that evening, at about 8:55 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man chasing people with a knife near 110 West Broadway.
The suspect, David Glen Clark, 40, allegedly threatened multiple individuals before police arrived. Officers attempted to detain him using pepper spray and other less-lethal methods during a standoff.
Clark tried to escape but was eventually captured with assistance from police K-9 Kuill. Authorities say he now faces several charges, including seven counts of menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police say the two separate incidents highlight the importance of quick response and preparedness to maintain public safety in the Eugene community.
