A deadly house fire in Estacada claimed the life of a resident Wednesday evening, with authorities now working to determine what caused the blaze.
Fire Engulfs Home Before Crews Arrive
According to the Estacada Fire District, emergency crews were dispatched just before 6 p.m. to a property along Divers Road.
When firefighters reached the scene, they discovered the double-wide home completely engulfed in flames. The roof had already partially collapsed, making firefighting efforts more difficult and dangerous.
Access Challenges Slowed Response
Officials noted that the home’s rural setting created additional challenges. A long driveway and limited access delayed emergency vehicles trying to reach the burning structure.
Despite these obstacles, crews worked quickly to contain the fire with assistance from the Colton Rural Fire Protection District #70.
Resident Found Dead Inside
Firefighters later discovered the body of the home’s only occupant inside the structure. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending further investigation.
Cause of Fire Still Unknown
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the incident. Officials have not yet determined what sparked the fire.
More details, including the cause and circumstances surrounding the blaze, are expected as the investigation continues.
Community Impact
The tragic incident has shaken the quiet rural community of Estacada, highlighting the risks posed by house fires—especially in areas where emergency access can be limited.
