Beaverton Police are looking into a crash that shut down Highway 26 for several hours Friday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a crash on the ramp from Highway 217 to westbound Highway 26.

“After the crash, both involved vehicles came to a stop,” said Matt Henderson, the Public Information Officer for Beaverton Police. “The at-fault vehicle in that crash was then struck again by another vehicle traveling on Highway 26 in a second crash.”

Henderson told KATU News that the driver responsible for the initial crash was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said a second person was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The highway reopened just before 6 a.m.
