A jury has convicted a man after finding that he engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior in front of a student at UNR in 2023.
Cedric Jones was found guilty of open and gross lewdness after he harassed a local college student and touched himself in her presence.
According to the Washoe County DA’s Office, Jones made repeated unwanted advances toward the woman in 2023, even though she consistently rejected him.
About a month later, Jones approached the woman while she was studying alone and offered to take her to a different study location.
She agreed and followed him to another building, where Jones sat beside her, began asking vulgar and sexually suggestive questions, and proceeded to stroke himself inside his pants.
Previous victims also testified about a similar incident involving Jones in 2020, though the DA did not release further details about those cases.
Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on May 13. He faces up to 364 days in the Washoe County Jail and will be required to register as a sex offender.
