A child was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after being struck by a car near the Moda Center in Portland, according to Portland Fire & Rescue.
The crash occurred around 3:22 p.m. near North Multnomah Street and North Interstate Avenue. Bystanders began performing CPR before firefighters arrived on scene. When first responders reached the child, they were breathing, officials said. A fire engine crew accompanied an AMR ambulance to the hospital.
As of Sunday evening, no additional information about the child’s condition had been released.
MAX Lines Briefly Shut Down
Both TriMet and Portland Fire & Rescue confirmed that no light rail train was involved in the crash. However, MAX Orange and Yellow line service was suspended for roughly three hours to allow emergency crews to access and secure the scene.
During the disruption, TriMet deployed shuttle buses between the Interstate/Rose Quarter station and Union Station at Northwest 5th Avenue and Glisan Street.
Transit officials announced that rail service resumed at approximately 6:16 p.m., though riders were advised to expect delays through about 8:15 p.m. as operations returned to normal.
Portland police also responded to the crash but had not released further details as of Sunday evening.
