A man has been arrested following a shooting at a motel in Portland, Oregon that left another man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The Portland Police Bureau said officers responded around 2:45 a.m. Thursday to a report of a shooting at the Horseshoe Inn Motel on the 11300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital, though authorities have not released the person’s name or current condition.
Police said the suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived. After setting up a perimeter, officers located and arrested Pryce Lampkin, 40, about an hour later.
Lampkin was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Investigators also recovered a firearm during the investigation.
According to court records, Lampkin has a lengthy criminal history that includes prior convictions for assault, fleeing police, reckless endangerment and strangulation.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives.
