Federal agents searched the home of a social media user in Eugene, Oregon this week after he posted TikTok videos encouraging aggressive actions against immigration enforcement officers.
According to the man, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation carried out the search Tuesday at the residence of Gabriel Charles Reed, 36. Reed said investigators were examining whether his online posts could amount to inciting a riot.
Reed runs a TikTok account called “gabethegreat18,” where he has more than 20,000 followers. In several videos, he urged people who own firearms to confront officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in their communities rather than simply protest or record their activities.
Search warrant and seized items
Reed said agents showed him a search warrant during the raid and confiscated several items, including:
-
His mobile phone
-
Two computers
-
Multiple external hard drives
-
Legal documents and notebooks
-
A written document he described as a “manifesto”
As of Friday, no criminal charges had been filed against him.
An FBI spokesperson in Portland, Oregon declined to comment on the investigation.
Reed denies planning violence
Reed told reporters via email that he has never owned a firearm or coordinated violent activity with others.
“I don’t own a gun and have never made plans with anyone to do anything,” he said.
He also claimed he has never attended anti-ICE demonstrations in Eugene or elsewhere, although he has criticized federal immigration enforcement operations.
Content of the videos
In his posts, Reed frequently criticizes immigration policies under Donald Trump and encourages people to defend themselves if they believe government authorities exceed their powers.
Some of his videos also reference the fatal shootings of two people during a protest-related incident in Minneapolis earlier this year.
Background
Reed previously worked as a taxi driver but said he lost his job in November and is currently unemployed.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not announced whether any charges will be filed.
