Evacuation orders have been lifted after a fast-moving wildfire near La Pine prompted emergency responses from multiple agencies on Tuesday.

The blaze, known as the Ridgeview Fire, was first reported around 1:40 p.m. in the Timber Lane Loop area. It quickly spread to approximately 20 acres, according to early estimates, before firefighters were able to gain control.

Authorities issued Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders for several areas including Timber Lane Loop, Riverview Drive, Bridge Drive, and homes along the Little Deschutes River. Additional Level 1 “Be Ready” alerts were put in place for nearby area as a precaution.

By around 6:45 p.m., officials announced that all evacuation notices had been lifted as crews made significant progress containing the fire.

The La Pine Rural Fire Protection District confirmed that firefighters had transitioned to mop-up operations by the evening. Despite the threat, none of the 300+ homes placed under evacuation warnings were damaged or destroyed.

In total, an estimated 40 to 50 firefighters from roughly 10 agencies responded to the incident, supported by law enforcement and emergency management teams.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office are encouraging residents to sign up for emergency alerts to stay informed about future wildfire risks, especially after a dry winter that has increased fire danger in the region.
