Lane County Jury Finds Man Guilty of Sexually Abusing Teen, Providing Drugs

On This Post

A jury in Lane County has convicted a 35-year-old man of sexually abusing a minor and providing illegal drugs, authorities said.

Conviction Details

Chasen Allan Macklin, of Springfield, was found guilty on multiple charges following a trial that concluded March 18.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 2.

Investigation and Allegations

The case began in January 2024 when a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted, prompting an investigation by the Eugene Police Department.

Investigators determined that:

  • Macklin provided the teen with LSD (a Schedule I controlled substance)
  • The assault occurred in a vehicle in a department store parking lot
  • The victim was under 18 years old

Arrest Incident

During a traffic stop on March 28, 2024, Macklin:

  • Resisted arrest
  • Attempted to flee before being taken into custody

Charges and Verdict

The jury convicted Macklin of:

  • Two counts of second-degree sexual abuse
  • Two counts of recklessly endangering another person
  • Delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance to a minor
  • First-degree escape
  • Resisting arrest

He was also found guilty of unlawful contact with a child in a separate bench trial.

However, the jury:

  • Found him not guilty on one additional sexual abuse charge
  • Declined to determine “persistent involvement” in similar crimes, meaning no enhanced sentencing factors were applied

What’s Next

Sentencing is set for early April, where a judge will determine the final penalty.
