A man in Eugene is facing multiple criminal charges after police say he stalked a victim and attempted to discard a stolen firearm during his arrest.
Stalking Investigation Leads to Arrest
According to the Eugene Police Department, officers were investigating a stalking case involving Dustin Brady Overton, 33.
Police said Overton, who has a prior felony conviction, was believed to be at a home on Barger Drive and was illegally in possession of a firearm.
Allegations Against the Suspect
Authorities allege that Overton:
- Stalked someone he previously knew
- Threw a rock at the victim’s home, breaking a window
- Possessed a stolen gun despite being prohibited due to his felony record
Late-Night Confrontation
Around 11:30 p.m. on March 29, an officer approached the residence. When Overton answered the door, a brief struggle occurred before officers took him into custody.
During the confrontation, police say he threw a sling bag back inside the home.
Stolen Gun Recovered
After obtaining a search warrant, officers located the bag and found a stolen firearm inside, confirming their suspicions.
Charges and Custody
Overton was booked into the Lane County Jail, where he remains in custody.
He faces several charges, including:
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Theft
- Stalking
- Criminal mischief
