A former police officer from Gresham is wanted by authorities after allegedly removing his ankle monitor and fleeing while out on bail in a serious criminal case.
According to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, 37-year-old Hector Carranza is facing numerous charges, including rape and sexual abuse involving a minor. Investigators say the alleged abuse took place over several years between 2014 and 2017.
Carranza, who joined the Gresham Police Department in 2014, was indicted in July 2025 and later pleaded not guilty. He was released from custody in August 2025 under conditions that included electronic monitoring.
Authorities say that in the early hours of March 21, 2026, Carranza removed his ankle monitor, turned off his phone, and disappeared. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest two days later, which includes nationwide extradition if he is found outside Oregon.
Law enforcement officials are now asking for the public’s assistance in locating him. He is described as approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 220 pounds.
Officials have stated that he is not currently believed to pose an immediate threat to the public, but urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact authorities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
